• Bed Linens, Towels & Pillows are provided in Initiator & Staff Housing

• Two plain white t-shirts (no words or designs on them)

• One plain black t-shirt (no words or designs on them)

• Additional casual clothing as needed for the week

• Jacket

• Rain gear

• Hat (important for sun protection)

• Swimsuit

• Durable shoes appropriate for hiking and walking

• Journal/notebook with a pen or pencil

• Water bottle or Water Bladder

• Flashlight

• Day pack

• Garbage bag or other water repellent bag to protect items within day pack

• Sunscreen

• Insect repellant

• Tweezers (to remove ticks)

• Wrist watch (You are asked not to use your cell phone to determine time)

• Any drum (or percussion instrument) you care to bring. If you have an extra drum, label it and bring it for someone else to use. Other rhythm instruments are encouraged too.

• Personal symbol(s) that represent any of the following:
  — where you are on your journey now
  — what work you need to do now

Note: We have found it helpful to many men to have these personal symbols on hand for their own use. They will not need to be exhibited or shared.

SCHEDULING FLIGHTS

Arrival: Plan your flight to allow you to get to Shrine Mont at Orkney Spring Virginia with enough time to check in, find your housing, and get settled in. Initiators should arrive at Shrine Mont no later than 1:30 pm, Wednesday, September 18, 2024. We expect all participants to be checked in and ready for the first initiator council at 2:30 pm. If you can arrive a day early on September 17, that would be helpful to the team.

Departure:  The closing ceremony, a key part of the MROP experience, will conclude at 3:00 pm, Sunday September 22. We expect all initiators to remain at Shrine Mont until the end of the MROP closing ceremony. Schedule your flight home allowing sufficient time to arrive at the airport, check in, pass through security, and to the boarding gate. Please notify the MROP Convener admin@illumandc.org, if overnight accommodation is needed for Sunday night, September 22. There will be an additional charge for Saturday night housing.

Please Note: It is 105 miles (about two hours driving time) between Dulles International Airport and Shrine Mont, Orkney Springs, VA.
