TRAVEL AND LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

The nearest airport is Dulles International which is located approximately 1 hour from Still Point Mountain Retreat.  From Reagan (DCA), allow a minimum of 90 minutes or more in rush hour.In order to participate in the entire event, your arrival time for registration must be between 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm on Wednesday May 15, 2024.

You will need to arrive before 2:00 p.m. to get registered.  The earlier you arrive during the registration window on Wednesday, the better.  This will allow you to get situated before everything begins (registration is 12:30 pm - 2 pm).  If you are flying and need to be picked up, it is important for us to get your flight information so we can coordinate pickup.

If flying, you must arrive at the Dulles International Airport no later than 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.  If you are flying in early, please make arrangements to stay overnight and ride with one of our local men.  We will connect you to our travel coordinator after you apply and give us your travel information.

The YMROP concludes Sunday, 2:00 PM. Please schedule domestic flights no earlier than 5:30 pm.

When you submit the travel form, we may be able to help arrange transportation for you to and from the YMROP.

ACCOMMODATIONS IN TENTS

The YMROP is, in part, a wilderness experience. You will be sleeping in tents which we provide, but you will have nearby access to water, showers, and toilets. Participants are expected to provide their own sleeping bag, sleeping mat, pillow and personal linens (washcloth, towel, sheets, etc.).

WHAT IS WEATHER LIKE AT STILL POINT?

Still Point Mountain Retreat is located in the panhandle of West Virginia. Early May weather typically averages mid-70s in the day and mid to mid-50s at night, but can get into the low-60s in the day and low-50s at night. Plan accordingly. You will need a jacket, long pants, and perhaps a sweatshirt or heavy sweater.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS

You should be mobile and able to hike on uneven trails.

You will be asked to fast (unless medical conditions preclude it) during a solo experience of approximately 12 hours (Saturday early-morning to Saturday early-evening).

ADMINISTRATIVE PREPARATION

Fees: The total fee of $350 helps to cover the cost of the core YMROP expenses.

A deposit of $100 is required with your registration, with the balance by May 1, 2024. The deposit will be returned if you are not accepted.  Limited scholarship assistance is available on request. You can request a scholarship online. Contact Dan Harris on our contact form if you have questions about scholarships.
